| | Nirvana organizes Dogri Sangeet ‘Saanj’ | | | JAMMU, Oct 18: To celebrate Navratra, a Dogri Sangeet program, ‘Saanj’ was organized by Nirvana Academy, a cultural club at Aarohi Kala Sangeet Vidhyalaya Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in which Dogri folk songs were presented by the talented artists of Jammu on the occasion. According to a statement, the programme started with ‘Jaikara’ of Mata Vaishno Devi followed by popular Dogri songs ‘Kunju chanclo’, ‘Thaare tudha paiya kandiye paya barsala’. An energetic performance by Anmol Amla and the band ‘As Dogre a Saadi Shaan Ge Bhakhri’ spellbound the audience. Kuldeep Kumar and group presented ‘Mere hikduea ghadbad hui balo’, ‘Loka kadu chuk goriye’, ‘Mau Mau Kare mera bilaa’, ‘Sun Kudiye tu kithe chali’ and ‘Chatni timbru di’ well appreciated by the youth among the audience on the occasion. Participants on the occasion were Kuldeep Kumar, Anmol Amla, Arti, Pranie, Tandeep Kour, Palak Sharma, Amit Kumar, Ankush, Jaganjot Singh, Pankaj Sharma and Kunal. Harpreet Singh Khalsa accompanied the group on guitar and Devinder Pal Singh on tabla. While speaking on the occasion, Academy head Meenakshi Sharma said that the main motive of the programme was to promote Dogri folk among the youth and the children and to throw light on the importance of Navratra. She said, “Mata Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of Navratra and is very bright and charming. Durga Maa is astride a tiger, displays a golden hue on her skin and possesses ten hands and three eyes. Eight of her hands display weapons while the remaining two are respectively in the Mudras of gestures of boon giving and preventing any harm. Chandra and Ghanta, meaning supreme bliss and knowledge, showering peace and serenity, like cool breeze in a moonlit night.” Those who were present on the occasion included President Hitesh Badyal, Vice-President Neeraj Sharma, Secretary PR and Publicity Nishant Vaid, Neha Varma, Aman and Vinay. |
