| | 2 ‘militants’ killed, 3 security men injured in Sopore encounter | | 3 residential houses damaged | | SRINAGAR, Oct 21: The encounter at Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district concluded with the death of two alleged militants and injury to three security forces men. Three residential houses were also damaged due to shelling by security forces during the exchange of fire. The Army, CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of police resumed the operation this morning against the two alleged militants hiding inside a residential house in Shallapora Sopore. And according to the police reports received in the afternoon, both alleged militants were killed. They were identified by the police as Muzamil Amin Dar and a foreigner, Abdullah Shaheen. Both belonged to militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), police said, adding that the house was damaged in the encounter. Police said: “The slain militants were identified as Divisional Commander of LeT Muzamil Amin Dar alias Urfi alias Abu Hushaam who was involved in the killing of SPO Riyaz Ahmed on 7th September, 2012, besides, Delhi blast conspiracy in which two militants were arrested in February this year, with the help of J&K police.” While one CRPF constable was injured yesterday at the start of the encounter, an ASI of police, Kafeel Ahmad, and an Army man, Gurjan Singh, of 22 RR were injured this morning. “The operation was resumed this morning when a joint search party tried to storm the target house, triggering an encounter. ASI Kafeel Ahmad of J&K police and an Army Jawan Gurjan Singh of 22 RR were injured during the initial push,” police said. The forces were searching through the debris when the last reports arrived here. |
