Iqbal, Ayjaz shine at Asian Thang Ta Championship
JAMMU, Oct 22: The Ist Asian Thang Ta championship was held at Kish Island in Iran from October 19 to 22 under the supervision of world martial arts federation jointly organised by the Asian Thang Ta Federation and I R of Thang Ta Federation of Iran

The six countries took part in the Asian Thang Ta championship which included Iran , India, Pakistan, Afganistan, Thailand.

The India contingent got 8 medals in which Mohammad Iqbal and Ayjaz won 2 each Gold medals in the Phunaba AMA and Thanglon Chatpa events respectively.

This is the first time in the history of the J&K state that 2 players of state won 4 medals at the international platform.

The President of the Thang Ta Federation of India H Prem Kumar Singh and Secretary General Dinachandra and the President of the J & K Thang Ta Association Nissar Geelani congratulate both the stars for earning the medals for the country. Geelani said that this is really a big achievement for the state and it proves that the day is not far when we will shine in the forth coming World championship at Finland in 2013 and at the next Asian and south Asian Championships and it is very honour for us that Thang Ta has been included as a regular sport in the forth coming World Martial Art Games as well as World veteran Martial Art Games 2014 at Turkeyee.

Hotel attack toll 2
