| | River Rafting, Rock Climbing training for youth in Kargil | | | KARGIL, Oct 26: Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, Tourist Office (LAHDC) Kargil organized a week long River Rafting and Rock Climbing Training courses at Kargil from October 10 to 17, 2012. The objective was to explore new areas and to promote adventure tourism in the district in view of its great tourism potential and to motivate local educated youth towards such activities and to ensure their involvement in tourism related activities for attracting of more and more foreign and domestic tourists to the district. More than 35 local educated male and female trainees from different places of the district participated and evinced their keen interest in these activities during the training camp. Free transport and boarding and lodging were provided to the trainees by the Tourism department during the training. Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, M. Rajive was the chief guest on the concluding function of October 17, 2012. The Deputy Commissioner distributed certificates among the participants and appreciated the efforts of department for conducting such activities for promotion of tourism in the district and stressed the need to continue such programme in future. Earlier, the courses were inaugurated by the Chief Executive Officer, Kargil Development Authority, Khadim Hussain Munshi who was the chief guest on the occasion. Among others were present on the concluding function include Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil, Javed Iqbal Mattoo, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Hassan Khan, Superintending Engineer PWD, Project Director DRDA and other senior officers of the district besides media persons were also present on the occasion. |
