| | IGP Dilbag Singh inaugurates Eid-Diwali Milan Cricket Cup | | Simula XI defeats CSO XI in opening tie | | JAMMU, Oct 26: Simula XI drubbed Christian Sports Organization XI by 15 runs in the inaugural match of the Eid-Diwan Milan Cup Cricket Cup Tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police XI in collaboration with Simula Sports at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Simula XI scored a decent total of 174 runs in given 20 overs. Atul was the top scorer with 41 runs off 20 balls studded with 10 boundaries, while Irshad hit 34 runs. Vicky and Vivek contributed 24 and 16 runs to the total respectively. Nitu Khokher was most successful bowler, who captured three wickets, while Ravi Manchanda and Ajay shared apiece each. In reply, Christian Sports Organization XI managed to score 159 runs losing six wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 15 runs. Anthony top scored with 54 runs, while Ravi Manchanda and A.Bhatti contributed 36 and 22 runs respectively. For Simula XI, Vickram was the wrecker-in-chief with three wickets, while Hilal and Vivek shared a wicket each. Vikram adjudged man of the match for his brilliant alround performance. Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Dilbag Singh inaugurated the tournament in a well attended function. In all, 12 teams are taking part in this competition. The DIG IRP T. Phonsuk and DIG Traffic Shakeel Beig were guests of the honour while DIG Jammu J P Singh, SO to IGP Jammu, Ramesh Angral, Hilal Rather M.D.Simula Software and Rajesh Dhar were among others present. Former Ranji trophy player, Rajesh Gill is organizing secretary of the tournament and the tournament is organized under the overall supervision of IGP Dilbag Singh. Among others present were SSP Traffic, Manmohan Singh, SSP Sham Sunder, SP TD Saini, SP Ramesh Angral, SP JS Johar, SP South Rajeshwar Singh, SP Hqrs Shalinder SP Rural Rajesh Kumar, DSP Vinay Kumar,Sanjay Mahajan, Asif Gill and David Mattoo. Tomorrow fixture: JKP XI shall lock horns against Aircel XI while Atman Sports XI shall be playing against Vishal Cricket XI in two sessions tomorrow. |
