| | Talaaq Verdict: HCBA, religious organization file application for rehearing | | | SRINAGAR, Nov 9: Kashmir High Court Bar Association along with six other organizations have moved a joint application to the state High Court appealing for rehearing in the Kulsum Akhter (divorce) case. The development took place a day after the former high court Judge, Justice Bashir Kirmani filed an application before the state High Court for rehearing the case. Apart from HCBA, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees, Anjumane Shar e Shian, Ittihadul Muslimeen, Mutahida Majlis e Amal and Himayatul Islam are the other organization that jointly applied before the court for the rehearing. The application has been moved through the HCBA president Advocate Zafar Qureshi. The applicants asked the court not to interfere in religious matters which could only be decided and interpreted by ullema and Islamic scholars. Meanwhile, Advocate Zafar Qureshi said the application has been moved before the High Court. He said that they have moved an application that the court should not directly interfere in religious matters. He said the court can either rehear the case or issue notices to the parties. The case is expected to be heard by the court on Monday. |
