| | Annual athletic meet at MHAC Nagbani | | | JAMMU, Nov 10: MHAC Nagbani celebrated its Annual Athletic Meet in the school premises with gaiety & fervour. The chief guest on the said occasion was I.D Soni, Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides Association and the function was presided over by Manager LMC Capt Dewan Singh. The meet was declared opened by the chief guest with the hoisting of the flag. The sports meet commenced with the lighting of the sports torch and an oath taking by the participating students. The principal Alok Betab welcoming the chief guest laid stress on importance of sports & games in the school curriculum. The very purpose of education is to ensure holistic growth and development of children. MHAC School is providing all facilities for contribution towards education. With the patronage of DAV Managing committee, the wheel of progress will keep moving towards achieving excellence and laurels in the field of education. Our students have excelled in 33 events at National, State and District levels. A welcome song and a colourful dance was presented by the students. A fancy dress competition for the tiny tots was applauded by one and all. The theme of the fancy dress was Electronic goods. Archita, Anuj, Manyaa and Aruneesh were adjudged the best participants. In tiny tots category Vasu, Gunjan, Atharv and Soumil were adjudged the best participants. Soni, the chief guest distributed prizes to the students who excelled in cultural activities in class VII & VIII for the year 2012-13. In his address the chief guest congratulated the principal, staff and students for their achievements in all fields. He said, “To win is good but to become victorious is even better”. He emphasized on the role of parents to inculcate true moral values among children. Without moral and spiritual values, education is absurdity. He stressed that sports inculcate values like discipline, stability, determination, enthusiasm, equality and team spirit. The sports events for the day were cycle race, milk & biscuit race, Balloon bursting, lemon and spoon race, skipping, get ready for school and ball & basket race for the juniors, which were the main attractions. In the senior section, 200 mts & 600 mts for boys & girls, 4 x 100 mts relay for senior girls and boys thrilled the audience. Special race for the staff and parents were held. Sudesh Bhau was adjudged the fastest in female staff matka race and Rohit Sharma and his team was adjudged the fastest in relay race. 100 mts and 50 mts race was held for male & female parents respectively. The chief guest for the closing ceremony Capt. Dewan Singh distributed prizes for cultural activities for classes I to VI and the winners of the various sports events. Reetika Bhardwaj was declared the best girl athlete and Rakesh Singh the best boy athlete in the senior category. In the pre senior category Shweta Bhat was declared the best girl athlete and Yash Paul Tinku, the best boy athlete. The overall trophy was bagged by Amar House. The function concluded with lowering of the flag & Shanti Path. |
