J&K govt registers FIR against army
SRINAGAR, June 30: Taking a serious note of the Markundal, Sumbal firing incident in which two persons have lost their lives, the state government today registered FIR in Sumbal Police Station against those responsible for the killing of civilians.

Terming the incident as most unfortunate and unacceptable, the state government expressed its deep sense of anguish and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.

A government spokesman giving these details said that director general police has been asked to expedite the investigation on the case registered over the incident. He said the state government has reaffirmed its stand of zero tolerance against innocent killings and has conveyed this to the security forces emphasising upon them to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) under all circumstances.

Court acquits father in abetment to suicide case
JAMMU, Jun 30(JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur A K Koul acquitted one Suram Chand son of Premu resident of Baduna Kud, tehsil Chenani, who was facing trial in an abetment to suicide case of his son and daughter-in-law.
