SRINAGAR, April 10: Fearing hush-up, opposition National Conference today demanded that Asifa rape and murder case must be shifted to some other court from Kathua for free and fair trail.
“Asifa is a daughter for not just Muslims but also Hindus, Sikhs and everyone. The intensity of crime is serious and only a conscious people can realize the pain of that minor girl who was brutally raped and murdered,” said NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar addressing media at NC party head office here.
He said given some bitter facts as to how some local policemen destroyed evidence it is understood as to which extent things may go.
“Given the intensity of the issue, we demand that Asifa’s case must be shifted from Kathua court so that the trails are conducted in free and fair manner and for that state government has a role to play to defeat communal forces,” Sagar added.
He asserted that communal forces have been striving to refer the case to CBI for probe whose aim is to divide the state on religious and regional basis.
“There are some people within the government who demanded that case should be referred to CBI for probe. I hope that the state government will not defend or protect anyone whose aim is to cause impediment,” said the NC leader.
Lashing out at the Jammu based lawyers from barring Crime Branch to file charge sheet in Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court Kathua, such act by lawyers exposed their ‘ill will’ which is condemnable.
Sagar said Kathua like incident occurred first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and that the state government in order to prove its earnestness must foil the nefarious designs of vicious elements.
“State government should never defend or protect them but these are the people associated with the government and we had demanded action against some ministers and would like to reiterate that Asifa’s issue is not a minor issue,” Sagar said.
He also said that the state government has to prove as to how much steadfast it is on its assurance that those involved in heinous crime of rape and murder of an eight years old girl will be taken to task.
