Pak prisoner’s murder in jail: Charge-sheet produced in court

JAMMU, July 1: After completion of investigations in murder of Pakistani prisoner Sonaullah Ranjay in high security Kot Bhalwal Jail, police today produced chargesheet against the accused in court of law.

Official reports said that challan of case FIR number 39 of 2013 under section 302 and 201 RPC registered at Police Station Gharota with regard to murder of Pak prisoner Sonaullah son of Ashiq Hussain of Daluwali, Sailkot, Pakistan was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Jammu today.

The next date of hearing has been fixed on July 15, 2013.

It is notable to mention here accused Vinod Kumar son of Mahitab Singh of Siku, District Pouri, Garhwal, Nainital (Uttra-Khand) attacked Sonaullah Ranjay with an agricultural tool inside high security jail on May 3 and he succumbed to his wounds at PGI Chandigarh on May 9. Kumar was convicted in a murder case in Leh, where he was posted.

According to police sources, Sonaullah was convicted by a TADA court in a bomb blast case following his arrest in 1999.

FIR was registered in Police Station Gharota and investigation was entrusted to Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Rural Jammu, Abdul Rauf Lone, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Headquarters Jammu and Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Sub- Divisional Police Officer, Akhnoor. The team of officers concluded the investigation on merits within prescribed period of time as per the law and procedure, reports added.
