| | World Diabetes Day celebrated at Doda | | | DODA, Nov 14: On the eve of “World Diabetes Day” to be observed on 14 November, a Diabetes awareness programme was held today at District Hospital Doda which was organized by Non Communicable Disease (NCD) Unit District Doda.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda Dr Mohammad Iqbal Zargar was the Chief Guest while Medical Superintendent District Hospital Doda Dr Farid Ahmed Bhat, District Immunization Officer Dr Tariq Masood, District President Medical Employees Federation Doda Mehboob Kraipak, Senior Gynecologist Dr Varsha Kotwal, Dr Abdul Wahid Bali, District Epidemiologist NCD Unit Umar Anayat Khan were also present on the occasion.
In a highly educative lecturer to a large gathering CMO Doda Dr. M I Zargar said that current theme of diabetes awareness is life style because however much the new inventions and discoveries in management and control of diabetes may be effective, the basic “Mantra” for successful control of diabetes is a life style based on regulated daily routine, balanced timely diet schedule, adequate level of physical activity and freedom from stress.
Dr. Zargar said “World Diabetes Day” is an occasion for each one of use, whether a medical professional or a social activist, to rededicate ourselves to the cause of controlling rapid spread of epidemic of diabetes in India which is going to pose a huge economic burden for the nation in the times to come.
CMO Doda Dr Zargar also highlight the objectives of National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardio Vascular Disease and Stroke.
On this occasion, free diabetes screening test was also held at District Hospital Doda wherein more than 200 persons was checked and some of them were found to be having diabetes.
Apart from District Hospital Doda, the Diabetes Day was observed in all health blocks of the District where representatives of Health Department aware the general public regarding the importance of this day. |
