Preventive measures for monsoon discussed

UDHAMPUR, July 3: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal, today discussed proposed plan chalked out for tackling any untoward incident in the district during monsoon season at a meeting with senior officers of civil and army.

The DDC outlined the importance of inter departmental coordination in dealing with any emergency and emphasized the need for effective implementation of disaster management measures. She directed the officers of Flood Control department to frame a roaster of flood duty chart to monitor the level of rivers and nallahas. She also called for ensuring quick communication about the flood messages to the main control room.

Mudgal asked the representatives of Army, BRTF, AFCONS and Leighton Company to extend their cooperation to the district administration during any exigency.

A control rooms has been set up at District Police Line Udhampur having contact number 01992-276915 which will work under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police to maintain close coordination among various departments and agencies to deal with any eventuality.

During the meeting, district and block level committees headed by District Development Commissioner and Naib Tehsildar respectively were constituted to monitor the forecast threat of floods and cloud burst in their respective jurisdictions.
