| | JKLF too calls for strike | | | SRINAGAR, Nov 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) had independently called for strike against the High Court’s decision to dismiss the petition for release of Dr Muhammad Qasim Fuktoo. “This decision is in all respects an undemocratic and inhuman. JKLF appeals to all Kashmiris to observe complete hartal (shut down) on Monday and show solidarity with Dr Qasim and other prisoners,” the party said in a press statement issued this evening. Commenting on the judgment the HC, in which it has ordered to keep him in jail for life long, JKLF said that it has always said that the decisions about the political prisoners have nothing to do with legality. “These decisions are always politically motivated and taken by the governments. Dr Mohammad Qasim has served more than 20 years of his life in jail. His health is fast deteriorating. Even many authorities in this connection have recommended for his release, but ironically government is bent upon prolonging his jail life,” it said. The party has paid rich tributes to its leader sheikh Abdul Hamid and others killed at Aali kadal here in 1992. “Shaheed Hameed, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Shaheed Advocate Jamil Chowdry, Shaheed Fayaz A Sheikh, Shaheed Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay and Shaheed Ghulam Mohammad laid down their lives for the complete freedom of Jammu Kashmir,” it said. “Today on their martyrdom anniversary,” it added, “We pledge to take their mission to its desired goal.” JKLF has also paid rich tributes to the brother of Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Butt (father of nation), Ghulam Nabi Butt who departed for the heavenly abode on the same date. “It said a prayer meeting would be held at on Nov 19 Mazar-i-Shuhada Eid Gah at 11 AM on November 20 Hameed blood bank will organize a blood donation camp at Abi Guzar Srinagar at 11 AM,” it announced. Meanwhile, the JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, has returned home after surgery. |
