POONCH, July 7: Exposing tall claims of strict vigil during night by Poonch police, on the eve of District Development Board (DDB) meeting unidentified burglars last night burgled two shop at Bus Stand Poonch, ransacked three vehicles and escaped with a TATA Sumo from a Petrol Pump where it was parked by the owner.

The series of burglaries and vehicle theft in one night have created panic among the locals as the thefts are increasing in the districts day by day.

Police said that last night some unidentified burglars broke the locks of two shops - one Karyana Shop of Bhanu Mehta, son of Om Parkash Mehta, resident of Poonch and another Confectionary Shop of Sulakshan Tandon, son of Harbans Lal, resident of Poonch. They decamped with cash and goods from both the shops.

Some unidentified persons also ransacked three vehicles parked in the vicinity of Bus Stand Poonch and decamped with a TATA Sumo bearing registration number JK12-1477 from the Petrol Pump.

Locals alleged that some miscreants ransacked their vehicles parked in the vicinity of Bus Stand. They added that inspite of police patrolling in Bus Stand thieves burgled two shops and ransacked three vehicles. This was the security scenario at Bus Stand Poonch a day before District Development Board (DDB) meeting. They demanded an enquiry in this connection

A police officer preferring anonymity said that they had recovered TATA Sumo from Mendhar and added that they have received the theft reports. He added that they will lodge an FIR and soon the culprits will be behind the bars.
