| | Ramban Police booked 5 persons under COTPA | | | JAMMU, Nov 25 : Five persons were caught red handed smoking in public places in Banihal town during a special drive launched by Banihal Police against persons smoking in public places.
They were booked under COTPA ( Cigarette and Other Tabacco Products Act) and Fine of Rs.200/- each was charged from the guilty persons.
On the directions of SP Ramban, Anil Magotra to take appropriate action under COTPA against anyone caught smoking in public places, Banihal Police today launched a special drive against persons smoking in public places and caught five persons namely Layqat Ali son of Idrees resident of Tatnihal, Banihal, Fareed Ahmed Wani son of Gulam Mohd resident of Doligam , Manzoor Ahmed son of Alaf Din resident of Amkoot , Farooq Ahmed son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh resident of Ashmuk, Kashmir and Altaf Ahmed son of Najam Din resident of Chanjloo who were smoking in public places and booked them u/s 4/21 COTPA. All of them were produced in the Court of Law where they were fined Rs. 200/- each.
It is pertinent to mention here that during this week Ramban Police have caught 10 persons including 03 in Ramsoo and 02 in Dharamkund who were smoking in public places and booked them under COTPA. Peoples of the area have appreciated the step taken by Ramban Police against persons smoking in public places. |
