| | Seminar on Kashmiri language at Kishtwar Campus | | | KISHTWAR, Nov 27: The Department of Kashmiri Kishtwar campus today organized one day seminar on the topic “The contribution of Chenab valley to the development of Kashmiri language and literature.”
Noted Kashmiri poet Mohammed Amin Doolwaal, Gulab Saifi and Prof Assadullah Wani were the resource persons of the seminar who in detail threw light on the poets and writers of Chenab valley and their contributions to the development of Kashmiri language and literature. They said that the Chenab valley had contributed a lot to the Kashmiri language and literature and literary historians could not ignore the contribution of poet and writers of Chenab valley.
The seminar was presided over by Director Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik.
Speaking on the occasion, the budding poet Gulab Saifi threw light on the poetry of Rasa Javedani, a legendary poet of Kashmiri of Chenab valley. He said that it was Rasa Javedani who wrote ghazals in Kashmiri language keeping in view the techniques of ghazal. It was he who introduced ghazals in Kashmiri language. He described him the poet of nature and compared his poetry with William Wordsworth. He quoted some of the famous verses of Kashmiri poetry of Rasajavadani and made a critical appreciation of some of his ghazals. He also compared some of his ghazals with the ghazals written by Kashmiri poets of Kashmir valley.
While speaking in the seminar Mohammed Amin Doolwaal in detail threw light on Kashmiri language and literature spoken in the Chenab valley. He described Rasajavadani not only a towering poet of Kashmiri language but also a simple human being. He threw light on the poetry of Janbaaz Kishtwari. He informed that it was Janbaaz Kishtwari who introduced new style of music called “Challanat” which was liked across the valley.
He also informed that Kamgaar Kishtwari, Ulfat Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari, Ishrat Kishtwari and Aseer Kishtwari too had contributed a lot for the development of Kashmiri language and literature. He also quoted some of the verses of Janbaaz Kishtwari’s Kashmiri poetry which were liked by audience.
Prof. Assadullah Wani said that Chenab valley had produced poets and writers like Rasajavandi, Bashir Bhaderwahi, Wafa Bhaderwahi, Deewana Bhaderwahi, Margoob Banihali, Manshoor Banihali and others whose contributions could not be ignored in the development of Kashmiri language and literature.
Prof Wani also threw light on the poetry of Nund Rishi (Shaikh-ul-Alam) whose forefathers were from Kishtwar. On the occasion, Tariq Ahmed Itoo, student of MA Kashmiri sang a ghazal of Mehmood Ghami which was liked by audience. In his presidential address, the director of Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik thanked the Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University Prof MPS Isher for providing his moral support for organizing literary and academic activities at Kishtwar Campus.
Prof. Malik said that it was the need of hour that history be written on the Kashmiri language and literature in detail and survey be made that the poets and writers of Chenab valley how much contributed for the development of Kashmiri language and literature.
He said that the history of Kashmiri language and literature is incomplete without the names of Rasajavadani, Kaamgaar Kishtwari, Margoob Banihali, Janbaaz Kishtwari, Bashir Bhaderwahi, Ulfat Kishtwari and others.
He informed that in the month of April 2013, a state level seminar would be organized on the topic “the contribution of kashmiri writers and poets of Jammu Division to the development of Kashmiri language” in which towering poets and writers of Kashmiri language would be invited to Kishtwar to present their papers on the subject. These papers would be later published in a book form. The proceeding of the programme was conducted by Mohd. Naseer ul Haq, Assistant Prof. IT Dept while Dr. Kaiser Ahmed Malik, Assistant Prof. Kashmiri Dept. presented vote of thanks. Beside students and civil society members, the seminar was attended by Ritu Singh Parihar, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Dr. Bilal Ahmed, Naveed Danish, Pardeep Singh, Mubasher Hussain and Ashish. |
