JAMMU, July 12: With no let up in ceasefire violations on the borders, Pakistani troops today fired on Indian forward posts along the International Border (IB) in RS Pura sector of Jammu district.

Earlier, exchange of fire mostly took place at the Line of Control (LoC) in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch while today Pakistani Rangers targeted the forward Posts at IB.

However, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing, a BSF officer said. But panic struck in the border villagers who were apprehending some kind of infiltration under the garb of ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers.

Pakistani Rangers fired on Border Out Posts (BoPs) along IB in Pindi forward area along IB of R S Pura belt around 9.35 AM, the officer said, adding that the small arms firing went on for a brief period.

Border Security Force (BSF) troops guarding the border fired back, resulting in exchanges. The firing lasted for brief period.

Senior BSF officers rushed to BoP Pindi where they accessed the situation. A massive search operation was launched in the area to ascertain whether any kind of infiltration has taken place.

Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire along the Line of Control on June 26 by resorting to unprovoked firing for nearly 30 minutes in Poonch district.

There were five ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the last month.
