Grand Mufti should fear Allah: tweets CM
SANA ALTAF
SRINAGAR, June 28: Reacting to the allegations of Grand Mufti, chief minister Omar Abdullah said that Mufti should fear Allah before making baseless accusation.
“I do not expect him to fear me, I would expect him, as a Mufti, to fear Allah when he makes baseless accusation. Sad” Omar wrote on the micro blogging site, twitter.
“I am sorry but will someone please ask him how my government stands to benefit from destroying the shrine?????”, he added.
In response to his tweets, a follower asks Omar is Waqf board not the culprit, as caretaker even rules out electric short-circuit as the cause of fire.
Another follower adds, “Will keep asking this. Will the government make the 'politically controlled' Waqf independent and allow a fair audit?”
The Grand Mufti of the state, Mufti Mohammad Bashiruddin Wednesday claimed that destruction of the Dastageer Sahib(RA)shrine in a fire incident has been the result of a pre-planned ‘criminal’ conspiracy. Bashiruddin accused government of destruction and distortion of vital evidence.
Ever since the fire incident at the shrine, Omar has been flooded with tweets. He has been repeatedly asked to probe the matter with responsibility.
About the persistent curfew imposed in the old city, a follower asks chief minister, “Dear Omar Abdullah let's stop this curfew thing and start to rebuild the shrine already. How is that?” to which Omar replies, sure, as soon as people stop trying to provoke trouble in downtown by coming from surrounding areas.
He adds work at shrine has started. The INTACH team has visited and will provide an initial assessment to the Wakf board in a week.
Responding to the strike calls, Omar remarks he is silent on all the strike calls. “Why should this one be any different? I tend not to react to hartal calls regardless of caller.”
“Seems like Government hartal call has also become reality in Kashmir now,” tweets Feroz to Omar.
On June 26, the day Hurriyat leaders were manhandled at the Dastageer Sahib (RA)shrine, Omar wrote, “Hurriyat politics played out in the shadow of the tragedy yesterday. No reward for guessing who's supporters did this.”
