| | ‘Political parties distribute dummy voter slips with wrong name, election symbol’ | | | SRINAGAR, Dec 2: Jammu and Kashmir Panch Sarpanch United Forum (JKPSUF), a body of panchayat members, which fielded its own candidates for four seats of legislative council polls has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission. In the complaint, it has alleged that NC-Congress coalition is trying to create confusion among the voters (panches and sarpanches) by distributing fake voter slips with wrong symbol and name of the candidate on them. The panchayat body also alleged that the political parties are black mailing the voters telling them that there will be spy cameras in election booths. Spokesman of the (JKPSA) and one of the candidates of the panchayat body said that he was shocked to see the fake voter slips distributed by the activists of NC and Congress in Kokernag area showing wrong name and election symbol. “I was informed by my supporters that some activists of NC-Congress coalition were distributing fake voter slips where my name does not figure. When I received one of the slips from my supporters I saw my name as Rashid Malik instead of Khursheed Malik on it. Much to my shock, the election symbol for Rashid Malik has been shown as telephone instead of table lamp, the actual symbol given to me by the Election Commission,” Khursheed Malik said. He said the coalition partners are trying to create confusion among the voters to win the elections. “I have registered complaint with the election commission and have handed over the fake voter slip to it (EC) with my wrong name and election symbol. Let me see the EC’s response,” Malik said. He also alleged that the political parties are also trying to blackmail the voters to ensure their victory. “Activists of the political parties for last many days have been approaching the panches and sarpanches telling them that there will be spy cameras fixed in election booths to detect who will cast vote for whom. They are resorting to blackmailing to ensure their win. I appeal to the Election Commission to take notice of it,” Malik said. |
