SRINAGAR, Apr 19: Lamenting centres decision to ban Salamabad-Chakoti cross LoC trade, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today said that Prime Minister Modi is trying to ‘destroy’ India by opposing former premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s policies.
Reacting to Home Ministry order to ban cross LoC trade, a major CBM initiated by her late father, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and then PM of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee after seventeen years, she said Modi’s reverse policies are aimed t to turn initiatives taken by the formers ‘upside-down’.
“It is a setback, whatever Vajpayee Ji did during his tenure is being turned upside down, Modi by making vicious moves will destroy India as BJP led Centre wants to do away with initiatives taken by Vajpayee,” said Mehbooba talking to reporters at her Gupkar residence here.
It is pertinent to mention that Government of India suspended the trade across the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan from today after probe agencies found the route was being "misused" by elements from the neighboring country to smuggle illegal weapons, drugs and fake currency, a government order said Thursday.
The PDP President said instead of choking space and compounding problems, government of India should work on reopening Kargil-Askardu, Jammu-Sialkot and Muzaffarabad silk routes.
She said the result of such aggressive moves will be disastrous hence the Centre should avoid creating controversies.
“If we choke these roads that we opened earlier, results will disastrous because the only solution to resolve the issue of Jammu and Kashmir lies with opening of Kargil-Askardu, Jammu-Sialkot and Muzaffarabad routes connecting central and south Asia,” she added.
Mehbooba alleged that BJP during her tenure as CM also tried to suspend Cross LoC trade; however she vehemently resisted and didn’t allow it to happen.
The former Chief Minister while terming Kashmir issue ‘serious and difficult’ said Pulwama like unfortunate incident depicted the severity of the issue.
She also claimed that Kashmir is being used as a tool for elections across India at present with an impression that muscular policy is being adopted in the hinterland.
Reacting on Malegaon blast accused, Sadhvi Pragvya, being fielded by BJP as its candidate from Bhopal, she said “These are the worst days for our country; you offer a candidate to people who uses bad language against martyrs like Hemant Karkare. She is the lady who is involved in heinous crimes and whatever she stands for BJP has endorsed that.”
