JAMMU, May 10: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has taken, what it said, “strong exception to the highly irresponsible and malicious remarks of State Governor Satya Paul Malik against former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi as part of vilification campaign against the martyr by the BJP with eye on elections.” In this connection, the party Friday announced to hold protest demonstration tomorrow in this regard.
According to chief spokesperson of the party Ravinder Sharma, the senior party leaders and prominent workers would hold a protest demonstration tomorrow at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu at 11:00 AM to express their anger over, “the insult to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who martyred for the nation 28 years ago on May 21, 1991.”
“During all these years the BJP left no stone unturned to implicate him but nothing could be proved against him and he came out clean in the judicial process. But BJP continued its vilification campaign against him and entire Gandhi family, till date which is abuse of judicial process and insult to the martyr, who got assassinated due to lack of foolproof security by the then BJP supported government at the Centre,” JKPCC spokesperson said.
He said it was most unfortunate that Satya Paul Malik joined this vilification campaign of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in “total disregard of all norms of decency and constitutional propriety of the august office of the Governor which mandates him to remain non-partisan and apolitical.” “It is totally unacceptable and highly deplorable and the party shall register strong protest tomorrow along with other issues,” he said.
