JAMMU, Dec 10: State Bank of Patiala (SBOP) organized a Customer Meet in Jammu which was the first such meet organized by SBOP in the state of J&K.

The meet was presided by the Managing Director of the Bank Achal Kumar Gupta. The programme was organized at Regal Hall, Hotel Asia, Jammu and was attended by many renowned business personalities and dignitaries of the town. The customer meet was followed by lunch which was graced by K Rajindera, ADG JKP by his gracious presence wherein he interacted at length with the MD of the organizing Bank.

State Bank of Patiala has endeavoured to expand its network in the State of J&K for which it has adopted the expansion approach by opening new branches. In the last 2 years, the bank has opened 4 new branches namely at Kathua, Samba, Bari Brahmana and R S Pura.

The bank has future plans to build inroads in the state by expanding its branch network and increasing its customer base thus participating in the state’s growth. At present, the bank has a 100 per cent CD ratio in the State which is way ahead than other banks operating in the state.

On the contrary, a few banks are operating only on a deposit model and advances for their branches in J&K are still in the natal stage.

In such a scenario, maintaining a CD ratio of 100 per cent in J&K is a commendable feat achieved by SBOP. Doing so, the bank is participating in the growth of the state’s economy by advancing loans to the business fraternity, hence enhancing their business prospects and growth opportunities in turn.

While interacting with the customers MD SBOP shared, “The purpose of holding today’s customer meet is to get feedback, to know your requirements, to get acquainted with the local ground realities and to answer your queries with best of our abilities”.

Replying to query of one of the bank’s customer, that whether SBOP is sensitive towards lowering interest rates, Gupta stated, “We are sensitive on rationalizing interest rates. At the same time bank has to earn also to make the bank profitable. So we are maintaining a balance between bank’s profitability and customers needs”.

“State Bank of Patiala will be expanding its branch network in Jammu and Kashmir in near future. SBOP is rationalizing interest rates across all the segments to be competitive, so that we can increase our customer base”, he added.

Among other noted dignitaries who interacted with the MD was Y V Sharma, President, Chamber of Commerce Jammu In his discussion,

Y V Sharma apprised the MD of the requirements of the industry as regards easy availability of loans and sought cooperation on this aspect to encourage industry growth.

The MD in turn reassured that the bank shall ensure hassle free availability of loans to all the eligible and viable proposals presented by the industry in the shortest time frame possible.
