| | IGP Jammu Zone declares open “Christmas twenty-20 Cricket Cup” | | VCC drubs Atman Club in opening tie | | JAMMU, Dec.12: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Dilbag Singh today declared open the “Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup” in an impressive function at Parade Ground, here today. The tournament in which 12 teams drawn from district Jammu and the Kashmir districts are participating is being organized by Christian Sports Organization J&K in collaboration with J&K Police Department , with the objective to celebrate the Festival of Christmas with all masses through sports , to promote the sports culture and to channelize the energy of the youth in a right direction. The slogan of the tournament is “Be Healthy – and Don’t Do Drugs”. Meanwhile, in the inaugural match, Vishal cricket Club drubbed Atman Club XI in an great contest. Batting first Vishal Cricket club scored 149 in 20 overs for 7 wickets. Main scorer of Vishal Club Chander scored 58 runs in 42 balls with 8 fours & 1 six,Nipun scored 37 runs in 33 balls with 4 fours.For atman club, Kamal,Narinder,Chetan took 2,2,1 wickets respectively.In reply Atman couldnot chased the target and were all out for 130 runs in 18.5 balls thus lost the match by 19 runs.Chetan Scored 64 runs in 54 balls with 11 fours, Radhey Sham is other batsman who scored 11 runs. For Vishal Prashant took 4 wickets, Ravi, Rakesh,Chander ,Sahil took 2,1,1,1 wickets respectively.Man of the Match was declared Chander of Vishal Club for his super batting. The match was officiated by Sudhir Singh and Sandeep as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma & Sanjay Bhatti acted as scorers. DIG Armed Jonny William who was the guest of the honour also congratulate the Christian Sports Organization J&K for organizing the Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup with the great motive to celebrate the Christmas festival through sports. Christian Sports Organization XI shall lock horns with Young XI at morning and JKP XI shall take on Indiana Cricket XI on tomorrow. |
