Militant killed in Tral encounter: Police

SRINAGAR, June 26: A militant was killed in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district today, police said.
The militant whom police identified as Shabir Ahmed Malik of Nagbal Tral was killed in an encounter after forces cordoned off Branpatri forest area.
Police said the slain militant was affiliated with Zakir Musa group.
“As per the police records, he was initially affiliated with proscribed militant outfit LeT and later on was part of Zakir Musa group,” said the spokesman.
“Shabir was part of groups responsible for planning and executing attacks in the area. Several crime cases were registered against him including case FIR No. 43/15 of police station Trikuta Nagar pertaining to the planning and making preparations for carrying out attacks in Jammu,” he added.
“Pertinently with the efforts of Police and security forces, it was a clean operation. No collateral damage happened during the encounter,” said the spokesman.
“Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other crime cases,” he said.
