MUMBAI, Sep 1: Team India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah's superb bowling (six wickets for 16 runs) and a hat-trick in the ongoing Test again West Indies at Sabina Park, Kingston has "not over shadowed" Hanuma Vihari's maiden hundred in the first innings, believes middle-order batsman's sister, Vaishnavi Vihari.
Speaking exclusively over telephone from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, she said, "I don't think Bumrah's bowling has overshadowed my brother's ton. It was a special day for both of them. Both played well and put India in a commanding position".
"I am very happy and emotional. I watched the match and I don't miss his batting, specially whenever and whatever time it is for me here".
"My bother has dedicated his first Test hundred to our late father. He would be a proud father. Wherever he is he must be very happy and very emotional".
"Our father was ex superintendent engineer in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. He was very sweet kind hearted, not a strict kind of father. He used to have happy tears looking at my brother at age 12 when he hits 50 or take 3bwickets. So from yesterday i was very emotional thinking how would my father feel now if he is with us", sister added.
"My mom (Gade Vijaya Lakshmi) and dad always encouraged Hanuma to be a cricketer. John Manoj and R. Sridhar (the current fielding coach of India) also encouraged my brother. My bother used to sit with my parents and watched matches on TV. I very well remember how my brother used to be nervous when Sachin lost his wicket in his playing days".
Vaishnavi Vihari was "surprised" to see her brother celebrating the first Test hundred.
"He does't celebrate much. He has scored many hundreds- double and 1 triple but I never saw him celebrating. He would be very calm. But his jump and celebration in Jamaica I'm seeing it for first time", she signed off.
