Nirmal Kumar scaled three death zone peaks including Mount Everest

JAMMU, Feb 13: Nirmal Kumar, a distinguished mountaineer of Mountaineering Association of J&K who has already scaled three death zone peaks including the Mount Everest (8848m), the highest; Kangchenjunga (8586m), the 3rd highest and Manasalu (8163m), the 8th highest peak in the world, is all set to attempt Lhotse (8516m) and Makalu(8485m), the 4th and the 5th highest peaks in the world in the coming spring season from 9th April, 2020. Nirmal Kumar who had scaled Manasalu peak in just 10 days from base camp to base camp is confident to summit both Lhotse and Makalu peaks within a month’s time.
To support Nirmal Kumar in his exemplary and history making quest for mountaineering and to ensure the success of his unique expedition, Mountaineering Association of J&K has tied up with M/S Asian Trekking(P) Ltd of Nepal who would provide all logistics and other necessary support to Nirmal Kumar during his climb to these formidable death zone peaks.
Nirmal Kumar of Doda district of J&K who holds the world record of leading the largest successful expedition on Kangchenjunga in 2018 has the distinction of scaling 8 peaks, including 3 death zone peaks, and participation in another 3 expeditions, within only 4 years of start of his mountaineering career.
It may also be interesting to mention here that Nirmal Kumar is a holder of Limca Book of Record for having sung the National Anthem at the highest point of the world, the top of Mount Everest. He is also a recipient of State Award in sports and S Rangil Singh Award for outstanding performance in mountaineering presented by J&K Olympic Association.
32 years old Nirmal Kumar, an Executive Engineer with ONGC, has so far been partially sponsored for this expedition by Power Finance Corporation Ltd but the Association is hopeful that some more organisations / agencies shall follow suit to help Nirmal Kumar on a mission in life.
